Located in the Bahamas, just north of the big island of Eleuthera, Harbor Island (a.k.a. "Briland") is a tiny island of pink sand beaches that sparkle amid the turquoise sea. And it is from this tropical paradise that the Brilanders make their music; a music that insists you get up and dance, a music that forces you to smile, a music that singss of the islands.
Originally known as "The Funk Gang", Larry Cleare (vocals), Wade Stewart (bass/guitar), and Chad Cleare (keyboards) have been playing together since 1980. They were later joined by Lorenzo Hutchinson (rake 'n scrape), Dennard Anderson (drums) and most recently by Chad Young (guitar). They have a world wide fan base, having played in London, France, Sweden, the United States, and, of course, the Bahamas. Their U.S. touring has taken them from New York to New Orleans, from Seattle to Virginia and Florida. The Brilanders opened for Jimmy Buffett at Margaritaville, New Orleans and toured with Buffett during his "Fruitcakes" tour - in full Junkanoo costume.
The Brilanders have hottest new song of 2005/2006 "Backyard Party" which has been at the top of the charts for 14 weeks. The Brilanders can be found playing on stage at Sea Grapes Club on Harbor Island many weekends and special events. They're also often spotted at Homecomings, Regattas and "Best of the Best" concerts.
