| Sun 2/26 | The weather in Eleuthera has been windy but warm. This
makes nice beaching weather - but it makes it difficult for the fishermen
to get out to sea.
Got some info about a fantastic place to get cracked conch in Rock Sound... Sammy's. Sammy's has been around for some time, but it's really the place to eat with Lisa cooking. From what I understand, Lisa has won best cook in the Bahamas twice now in contests in Nassau. Try it out... This past Friday and Saturday there was the yearly church fair in Gregory Town - they had stalls, food, and the bar - there was great music - the kids were wonderful in their dance program. Afterwards everyone went to Seaside in Hatchet Bay - it was packed there! Rock Sound is hosting Fish Fry on Friday nights now - to earn funds for their homecoming in early April. I've been told that Ronnie's in Cupid's Cay is remodeling - I'm going over to the island this week - I'll try to get some pictures. |
| Wed 2/8/2006 | I was watching ZNS TV this morning and saw the Brilanders on
ZNS "Sunrise". First they showed a clip of the band
playing "Harbor Island" at Sea Grapes in Briland. Then
they did a short interview with Larry Cleare (the lead singer). In
the interview he talked about all the traveling and entertaining the band
has been doing since their song "Backyard Party" has become such
a hit. He mentioned they had spent last Friday night in Nassau,
Saturday night in Exuma, and then back to Nassau to play during a Super
Bowl party. He commented that the band has 9-5 day jobs in addition
to playing at night. The band is celebrating their 25th anniversary
playing together this year and will be having a party for this occasion.
So... I called Larry and found out that this party will be March 8th at Sea Grapes. Ira Storr and Berkley VanByrd (Former lead singer and drummer for the world famous T-Connection, see bio at http://berkleyvanbyrd.tripod.com/) will be entertaining too... and maybe some others. This should be a night not to miss in Briland!!! You can check out info on the Brilanders here. |
