OK - doing some end of the year work. I am going to try to
completely re-upload this site... been having some small technical
difficulties and they've been keeping me from updating this site (that and
laziness). As for the news, Went to Tarpum Bay Junkanoo last
night. There were plenty of people in attendance and the groups did
a great job - hats off to the Invaders for their great costumes.
On Sunday, Santa came to the southern settlements for a pre-Christmas visit to the children - I met him in Deep Creek. He gave gift bags with apples and juice and some candy to the kids. I'd like to champion this fund next year and see if we can get some toys added to those sacks - like yo-yos or bubbles or coloring books... If anyone has any suggestions on cheap, safe toys let me know. I will begin soliciting donations for this cause come next June :-) While waiting on Santa at the school in Deep Creek I was appalled at the condition of the playground. The swing set only has one swing (there should be 6) - there are no see-saws on the see-saw bar and the slide is missing bolts and the side rails have been removed, making it unsafe. There is no other equipment there for the kids to play on. This is EleutheraLiving's new "cause". I have been checking it out and it's only $20 per sling-type swing seat. $45 for the infant bucket seats. It's 75 cents per foot for the chain. I don't know if the slide is salvageable so I may need to buy new, more modern style slides. I'm also looking for sea-saws. Please, if anyone out there knows about playground equipment drop me a line. I am taking donations now for this cause. You can PayPal me at kristelsea@yahoo.com or send a check to my Fort Pierce, Florida address, or just drop donations by the tourism office in Governor's Harbour to Donna Lee. Email me at kristel@eleutheraliving if you have any questions.
